Chapter 36: You're All the Boss
In a short while, dozens of bodies lay scattered across the ground. Nangong Yan herself was swiftly subdued by Yang Lingchen, her cultivation sealed. Had it not been for the complicated intimacy they had shared, a consequence of his poisoned state, he might have ended her life right then and there. With their formidable combat prowess, Yang Lingchen and Feng Xueqing were practically invincible within this ancient ruin. Under Yang Lingchen's decisive suppression, no one dared to charge forward again; it would have been nothing short of suicide. Meanwhile, Wang Yuan, who had previously pursued Yang Lingchen, had long since hidden himself far away, his intent to kill Yang Lingchen completely vanished. "Boy, release our Young Lady, or no one in the entire Southern Province will be able to save you!" a disciple from the Sword Origin Sect shouted loudly. "Brother Yang... you should really let her go! Otherwise, there will be immense trouble," an inner disciple from the Heavenly Origin Palace spoke up. "What's her status? Is she that formidable?" Yang Lingchen asked curiously. "Nangong Yan is the Sword Origin Sect Master's most beloved daughter," the inner disciple whispered. "What... what? The Sword Origin Sect Master's daughter?" Yang Lingchen looked utterly bewildered. At that moment, he felt as though he might be in a bit of a bind. After all, the Sword Origin Sect Master was the strongest cultivator in the Southern Province, a renowned figure even across the entire Northern Mystic Domain. "Yes, Brother Yang. Perhaps you should release her! If you kill people from other sects, our Heavenly Origin Palace can still handle it, but if you do anything to her, even our Palace Master might not be able to protect you," the Heavenly Origin Palace inner disciple advised. "Ahem... Miss Nangong, how about I release you? Could you be magnanimous and consider it as if you were... poked by a pig?" Yang Lingchen coughed lightly, speaking awkwardly. At this point, Yang Lingchen had to seriously reconsider. This woman's identity was simply too terrifying. If he truly did anything to her, not only would he be doomed, but his entire family might be implicated. "You... shut up." Nangong Yan's pretty face instantly flushed with anger. Was this boy even speaking like a human? Was she really "poked by a pig"? "I'll shut up, I'll shut up." Yang Lingchen quickly unsealed Nangong Yan's cultivation. "Boy, come with me," Nangong Yan glared at Yang Lingchen, then walked off into the distance. Yang Lingchen could only follow, his head spinning. He had a feeling things had gotten a bit out of hand. The two arrived at a secluded corner. Nangong Yan stared at Yang Lingchen with icy eyes. "Your name is Yang Lingchen, isn't it?" "Uh... yes," Yang Lingchen nodded. "I'll give you two choices," Nangong Yan said coldly. "Please tell me, Miss Nangong," Yang Lingchen frowned. "The first choice is to cut off the part of you that shouldn't be there," Nangong Yan's voice was chillingly cold. "And the second choice?" Yang Lingchen immediately asked about the second option. What kind of joke was that? If he cut that off, what would be the point of living? "The second choice is to come to the Sword Origin Sect and become a live-in son-in-law," Nangong Yan said with a clear voice. Yang Lingchen looked surprised. "A live-in son-in-law?" "What's with that expression? Do you think you don't have to take responsibility for what you did?" Nangong Yan glanced coldly at Yang Lingchen. "If I go to the Sword Origin Sect as a live-in son-in-law, are you sure you won't abuse me?" Yang Lingchen asked. "Hmph! As long as you're obedient and serve me well every day, I naturally won't treat you poorly," Nangong Yan snorted. "Then there's nothing to discuss. Even if you tell your father about what happened between us, I won't become a live-in son-in-law." Yang Lingchen finished speaking and turned to leave. "Stop right there!" Nangong Yan shouted. "Does Miss Nangong have any other instructions?" Yang Lingchen asked. "Are you really so irresponsible about what you've done? Are you even a man?" Nangong Yan snapped. Yang Lingchen's gaze sharpened as he walked directly towards Nangong Yan. "What do you want to do?" Nangong Yan watched Yang Lingchen warily, preparing her defenses. But Yang Lingchen continued to approach her. At that moment, Nangong Yan struck out with a palm. However, with her strength, how could she possibly stop Yang Lingchen? Yang Lingchen simply raised his left hand, instantly blocking her palm, and then pulled her into his embrace. No matter how much she struggled, she couldn't break free from his hold. "Yang Lingchen, what are you trying to—" Before Nangong Yan could finish her sentence, Yang Lingchen's lips found hers. "Mmm..." Under the intensity of his kiss, Nangong Yan, who had never known such intimacy, soon found herself melting into Yang Lingchen's embrace. A long moment passed before they finally separated. "From today forward, you are my woman, Yang Lingchen's woman." Yang Lingchen felt a deep sense of regret regarding Nangong Yan. Though he had been under the influence of a potent poison at the time, he acknowledged the profound impact his actions had on her. "Mmm... mmm." At this moment, Nangong Yan was incredibly docile, resting quietly in Yang Lingchen's arms. "Yang Lingchen, you don't have to be a live-in son-in-law, but you must reach the Profound Entry Realm within one year and personally come to the Sword Origin Sect to propose marriage. Can you do that?" Nangong Yan looked at Yang Lingchen with wide, expectant eyes. "Of course, I can," Yang Lingchen replied. "Then swear it!" Nangong Yan said sweetly. "I swear that within one year, I will reach the Profound Entry Realm and personally come to the Sword Origin Sect to propose marriage." Yang Lingchen swore. He was confident in his own talent; reaching the Profound Entry Realm within a year was not a great challenge for him. "Hmph, at least you're still a man," Nangong Yan's pretty face finally softened a little. She was quite satisfied with Yang Lingchen's talent and appearance. "Let's go back, lest they worry," Yang Lingchen suggested. "You're worried about that little beauty, aren't you?" "Ahem... ahem...!" "Let me tell you, I'm not going to be the junior one." "You're all the seniors, I'm the youngest, no... no, I'm not small," Yang Lingchen quickly interjected. When Yang Lingchen and Nangong Yan reappeared, everyone was stunned. What was going on? Everyone looked bewildered. When they left, swords were drawn. When they returned, they were holding hands, practically inseparable. Yang Lingchen hadn't wanted to be so conspicuous, especially with Feng Xueqing still there! But Nangong Yan simply wouldn't let go of his hand, and he couldn't just forcefully shake her off, could he? "You scoundrel, what's going on with you?" Feng Xueqing looked at Yang Lingchen with an unfriendly gaze. "Ahem... ahem... Xueqing, let's go talk over there." Yang Lingchen pulled Feng Xueqing aside. "Alright, tell me, what's going on between you and her?" Feng Xueqing asked. "It's like this..." Yang Lingchen then recounted everything that had happened between him and Nangong Yan, from beginning to end. "You really... forced her?" Feng Xueqing blinked. "I didn't mean to; I was poisoned by that demonic蛟's lust poison," Yang Lingchen quickly added. "No wonder she wanted to kill you. So what's the situation between you two now?" Feng Xueqing asked curiously. "She wants me to take responsibility," Yang Lingchen secretly glanced at Feng Xueqing. "You scoundrel, you're so lucky! How could you stumble into such a good deal?" Feng Xueqing playfully chided. "You're not angry?" Yang Lingchen asked curiously. "What do you think? If you hadn't... done that to her, would this have happened?" Feng Xueqing glared at Yang Lingchen. "I told you, I was under the influence of poison," Yang Lingchen said. "Hmph! I'm too lazy to bother with your affairs, but when she sees me, she must call me 'sister'," Feng Xueqing snorted.
