Chapter 28: Climbing into Bed for a Surprise Attack
From: Wrong Flirtation, Then the Stoic Tycoon Takes a Reverse Approach to Win His Wife Back
Seeing Li Chuzhe walk in, Tang Yan asked, “Why’s Mo Yao crying? What did you do?”
Li Chuzhe smiled. “She said… ‘I wish you both happiness.’ She said she was so jealous of you—having a husband like me.”
“Shameless,” Tang Yan muttered, turning back to her work without looking at him.
“Come on, it’s late. Let’s leave it for tomorrow.” Li Chuzhe slipped his arms around her from behind, pressing his body close to hers, deliberately brushing against her back.
Tang Yan immediately stepped away, her voice sharp and serious. “Don’t come near me. One more step and I’m not talking to you.”
Li Chuzhe chuckled, then tilted his head with mock innocence. “So where should I stand?”
“There’s plenty of space. Stand anywhere—but not near me.” Tang Yan took another step back, as if distance could keep the storm at bay.
“Alright, alright. No more tonight. Go to bed early.” Li Chuzhe had been unusually gentle lately—always stopping just before things got too intense, unlike the domineering man he used to be.
This version of Li Chuzhe unsettled Tang Yan. Not because he was bad—but because she’d grown strangely fond of it.
“Anyway, I’m going upstairs to sleep. You do the same.” She gave a quick nod, then turned and headed up the stairs.
It wasn’t long before Tang Yan heard movement in her room. She turned sharply—and froze.
There he was. Li Chuzhe, hands planted on either side of her, trapping her between his arms. His body leaned down heavily, their faces mere centimeters apart.
Tang Yan stared, stunned. “Li Chuzhe… what are you doing?”
Above her, his breath came ragged, his pale skin flushed, lips slightly parted—like a man caught in the throes of something primal. “Honey… I’m so hot.”
His voice was low, rich, dripping with that perfect, throaty vibrato. Tang Yan couldn’t resist it—especially when it came from a man who looked like a billionaire god in a tailored suit. The loosened tie, the exposed collarbones beneath the crisp shirt—every inch of him now radiated raw, dangerous allure.
Her heart pounded. Her mouth went dry. Images flashed through her mind—shameful, tempting, impossible.
“Li Chuzhe… snap out of it.”
But he didn’t hear. His body had taken over. “Honey… I’m burning. Help me… please?”
*“Is this the seductive boss trying to kill me with charm?”* Tang Yan silently groaned, but her eyes betrayed her—lingering on that unfairly soft face, the one that begged to be touched.
When Li Chuzhe didn’t move, he took matters into his own hands. He lowered his head, crashing his lips onto hers. “So hot…” Tang Yan tried to pull back, but the heat, the pressure, the sheer *rightness* of it—she melted.
The coolness of her lips only fueled him further. He deepened the kiss, desperate to consume every trace of resistance. But Tang Yan still had a sliver of clarity left. She pushed him away hard.
“You’re a dog, aren’t you? Always biting!”
Li Chuzhe crashed onto the floor, dazed and writhing in pain. Tang Yan blinked. Something was off—he looked worse than usual.
But honestly? He looked like he needed help. And right now, he looked like a disaster no one should see.
With a grimace, Tang Yan dragged him into the bathroom, turned on the cold shower, and started rinsing him down while helping him release the fire building inside.
“I swear, I must’ve owed you something in a past life to end up stuck with you like this,” she grumbled, scrubbing his chest with barely concealed frustration.
After nearly an hour, the storm finally passed. Li Chuzhe lay sprawled on the tile floor, breathing steadily, fast asleep like a child.
Tang Yan stared at him—his pained expression from earlier, now replaced by peaceful serenity. For a moment, she felt… oddly satisfied. Like she’d actually done something good.
She hauled him back to his room, collapsed onto the bed, and fell asleep instantly—right into his arms.
Midnight came. Li Chuzhe stirred, feeling the ache in his arm. He opened his eyes—and found himself holding Tang Yan, wrapped in his embrace.
Without a word, he pulled the blanket over them both. Then, gently, tenderly, he kissed her forehead, her cheek, her earlobe.
“Good night, wife.”
And there they were—two people, tangled in warmth and silence, sleeping like newlyweds, deeply, peacefully, completely happy.
Before dawn broke, Li Chuzhe woke again. He hadn’t slept all night—just waiting to see her face, so peaceful, so *hers*. Tang Yan lay curled in his arms, shifting slightly when she felt discomfort, adjusting her position like a cat seeking warmth.
He watched her—quiet, still, bathed in golden morning light filtering through the window. In that moment, they felt like they’d always belonged together.
A few minutes later, Tang Yan stirred awake. She felt someone beside her—instinctively, she shot upright, one hand locking onto Li Chuzhe’s arm, the other clamping around his neck.
Then she saw him.
Her face flushed. She yanked her hands back. “Sorry—I—I’m just used to living alone. High alert reflex.”
Li Chuzhe smiled softly, not even pretending to be offended. “Impressive, Miss Tang. For a second there, I thought you were gonna crush me.”
“Alright, I’m getting up.” Tang Yan shoved his chest lightly, then climbed out of bed.
Her clothes weren’t the ones she’d worn last night. Now she wore a thin, ice-silk nightgown—barely covering anything.
She glanced down at herself—then spun around, eyes wide with horror. “What did you do?! Where’s my clothes?!”
“I had them washed,” Li Chuzhe said, smirking, fingers tapping her forehead lightly. “I sent Auntie to change you.”
“B-but—”
He stepped forward, cupped her chin, and gave her a playful nudge. “You’re such a fool. Don’t worry. I didn’t do anything. Just helped you get ready.”
Then, without waiting, he took her hand and led her toward the door.
Predictably, Tang Yan yanked her hand free. She marched ahead, furious, eating breakfast in silence—each bite tasting bitter.
Later, Li Chuzhe suddenly answered a call, his expression darkening. He grabbed his coat and rushed out.
Tang Yan had no mission today. She wanted to talk to someone about last night—but who?
She thought and thought… then realized: she didn’t have a single contact in his inner circle.
Sighing, she changed into a disguise and headed to the company—to find answers.
