“What are you still doing? Get the medical kit—now!”
“Yes, President.”

“Huo Sijue… You’ve finally come? Should I even be relieved? Is there still a shred of humanity left in your heart—or has it hardened beyond feeling? You only show up now, after I’m dying?”

Wen Xuxu turned her head slowly, inch by inch. After ten long, torturous hours of agony, her eyes—red and swollen from endless tears—finally found him. The man who had just arrived.

Huo Sijue’s temple throbbed with a vein pulsing like a live wire. “Are you insane? Do you really think I care if you die? Let me make one thing clear—I already told the old man you’re alive.”

“Is that so?”

A ghost of a smile tugged at Wen Xuxu’s pale lips—thin, brittle, almost cruel.

Of course. Why would someone like him care about her life or death? He’d made it clear before: whether she lived or died meant nothing to him.

She closed her eyes again, slowly, deliberately. “Then… can you give my son back to me?”

“What? Give him back?”

“Yes, Huo Sijue. You can hate me. You can despise me. You can wish me dead right now. But for the sake of your own flesh and blood—your son—can’t you let him live? He’s innocent! Are you really this cold? This heartless?”

Her eyes snapped open—dry, bloodshot, wild with desperation. Like an animal cornered, she locked onto him with a stare that burned through bone.

Huo Sijue’s brow knotted tighter. “What the hell are you talking about? What ‘living path’? My son has never lacked a single chance at life.”

“Then why did you hand him over to *her*? Do you have any idea what she’s done to Yinyin? She twisted his fingers—just because he’s five years old! She *pinched* him! That child is mine—carried for nine months, fought for with every breath I had! If you truly don’t want him, please… just give him to me. I’ll raise him right. I won’t interfere with your family. Isn’t that enough? HUO SIJUE!”

Her body trembled violently. She didn’t care that she was spent, broken—she dragged herself up from the floor, clawing at the air, gesturing wildly, gasping for breath between sobs.

He was her son. If he wasn’t wanted… couldn’t he be hers?

But instead of pity, instead of belief—Huo Sijue recoiled. He shoved her away as if she were filth, his face twisted with disgust and fury.

“Wen Xuxu, what the hell do you think you’re playing at? Think you can drive away Gu Xia, then crawl back into the Huo family like some tragic heroine? Dream on.”

“What? Drive away Gu Xia?”

“You said she abused Yinyin. You made me hand the boy over to you—then slashed your wrists. Clever move, huh? A double-edged trick. Too bad you picked the wrong target.”

He loomed over her, eyes icy, contempt dripping from every syllable. As if even looking at her was a violation.

Ha-ha-ha…

So that was it. In his eyes, *she* was the villain—the scheming, desperate woman. And *Gu Xia*? The pure white lotus. Untouchable. Sacred.

And she? Just trash.

A *sacrifice play*?

With a sudden, violent surge, Wen Xuxu lunged off the ground—before Huo Sijue could react, she seized something sharp and plunged it straight into her own chest.
