Then—*click*—the glass door swung open all by itself.

Huo Yin?

The uptight little stick-in-the-mud?

Mo Bao stood frozen, mouth agape.

He hadn’t been wrong after all. Huo Yin *was* the son of that big bad guy. And since Mo Bao looked exactly like him—identical down to the last freckle—he’d been recognized too.

So… was that bad guy really his dad?

Mo Bao’s temper flared again. He stepped through the door and took a few steps forward—only to realize with a jolt that this wasn’t some high-powered CEO office at all. It was a ridiculously luxurious lounge, like a private living room: flat-screen TV, plush sofas, even a bed. It looked just like home.

This must be where they rested. Otherwise, why install a glass door with facial recognition? Why go through all that trouble?

Now that he understood the place, Mo Bao decided to slip out and find the real target—the big bad guy.

But just as he turned to leave, another sound echoed from outside:
*Beep.*
*Recognition successful.*
“Huo Si Jue, access granted.”

Mo Bao: ……

Oh no. The bad guy himself was here. What now?

Panic surged through him. He bolted back inside, frantically scanning the room. Then—straight into the bedroom—he dove into the closet and crouched down, holding his breath.

He’d come to investigate, not to get caught. He wasn’t here to confront the villain—just to scout the enemy’s territory. So next time the jerk tried to bully Mama again, he’d be ready to teach him a lesson.

Mo Bao stayed perfectly still in the dark, heart pounding.

But then—something unexpected happened.

The man walked straight toward the closet.

“What kind of crap is this? Tastes like poison and smells worse than a wet dog!”

*Fwip!*

Huo Si Jue yanked open the closet door—after having just forced himself to swallow an entire bowl of bitter medicine in his office.

“!!”

For several seconds, two pairs of eyes locked in stunned silence—big one staring at small one, both utterly speechless.

It was over. Caught.

Inside the closet, Mo Bao’s face went pale as snow.

But what confused him even more was the expression on the bad guy’s face. After a long, slow blink, the man frowned… then cracked a strange, almost bewildered smile.

“Huo Yin? Why are you hiding in here? You were just in the office a second ago.”

…Huo Yin?

The uptight little stick-in-the-mud was here too?

In an instant, Mo Bao’s brilliant mind clicked into place. He peeked out from the clothes, flashing the most innocent, sweetest grin he could muster.

“Yeah, Daddy,” he chirped, voice sugary sweet. “I just came up.”

Huo Si Jue froze.

Wait. *Daddy?* That brat just called him *Daddy*? Was he hallucinating?

And… he just came up? But when? He hadn’t seen him. He’d only just arrived himself. So… had the kid slipped upstairs while he was on the phone?

Huo Si Jue’s gaze sharpened—curious, suspicious, and suddenly very much intrigued.

But before he could dig deeper, his phone buzzed again.

“Since you’re already up here, stay put. The lady doctor—uh, *that* doctor—has left. Don’t wander around. I’ll take you home once I’m done.”

“Huh?”

Mo Bao blinked his fox-like eyes, wide and innocent.

Doctor Auntie?

Was he talking about Mama? How did she even get here? And why was she bringing *Huo Yin* along?

His tiny brain spun, but he didn’t dwell on it. He was smart enough to know when to play along. With a quick nod, he said, “Okay, I won’t go anywhere, Daddy. Go ahead and work.”

Huo Si Jue stared.

Again, that damn bright, dazzling smile hit him right in the chest.

*Damn it.* It was that woman’s fault. He’d warned them—no contact between her and the kid. Look what she’d done! Turned him into some cheerful little angel.

Huo Si Jue’s face darkened.

Finally, when he turned to leave, Mo Bao shot out of the closet like a bullet. He dashed past the glass door and sprinted down the hall.

He had to get out—*now*. With Hoa Yin here, if someone found two identical kids in the same building, things would spiral out of control.

He took the elevator down, planning to sneak out of the building and head straight back to kindergarten.

But as soon as he pushed open the front doors, his blood ran cold.

There, parked right at the entrance, was a taxi.

And beside it—a middle-aged woman in her fifties, clutching a soft, pink-cheeked little girl, dragging a boy who looked just like him—struggling fiercely—toward the car!

Ruoruo?!

Grandma Lan?!

What in the world were they doing here?! And why were they pulling *Huo Yin* into that car?!

Mo Bao felt his mind short-circuit. He lunged forward, screaming, “Stop! Let him go!”

But just as he reached them, a voice rang out behind him:

“Little master? What are you doing down here? Didn’t the CEO tell you to stay in the lounge upstairs? Why are you alone? This place is dangerous. Come on, Uncle Lin will take you back.”

Of all the luck.

It was the CEO’s personal assistant—Xiao Lin.

Mo Bao could only watch in horror as his own *terrible* sister and the senile Grandma Lan dragged the struggling Hoa Yin into the taxi.

And then—just like that—he was scooped up by strong arms and carried back to the top floor.

The joke?
It was *way* too big.
