That night, he’d drugged her. For the entire evening, he’d forced himself on her in the dark—had she even had a chance to see what a man’s body looked like?

Wen Xuxu swallowed hard.

The man before her was tall and powerfully built, his skin still glistening from a recent shower. Water droplets clung to the defined ridges of muscle across his torso, catching the dim light like scattered diamonds. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he exhaled, sending tiny beads tumbling down his jawline—so damn sexy it hurt.

“Finished staring?”

“!!”

Wen Xuxu snapped back to reality. Blood surged straight to her head. She clapped both hands over her face and spun away, wishing the floor would swallow her whole.

“I—I didn’t mean to… I thought you were done showering. I just wanted to talk.”

She stammered, desperate to explain, eyes darting away like she’d committed some unspeakable sin. From the side, you could see the delicate curve of her cheekbone, flushed crimson with embarrassment.

Ha.

Acting innocent?
Just back from wherever you disappeared to, already flirting with other men at midnight—and now trying to play the pure little thing in front of *him*?

Huo Sijue slammed the door shut again, harder this time.

Ten minutes later, finally composed, the man emerged—dressed impeccably, every button aligned, every strand of hair in place.

“So,” he said, voice ice-cold, “what else do you want to ‘discuss’?”

Now in formal wear, he reclaimed his throne-like posture—straight-backed, sharp-featured, radiating an aura of cold elegance. But beneath the polished surface, something darker simmered. Just standing there under the corridor’s soft glow, the sheer intensity of his presence made the air feel thick, suffocating. You could barely breathe.

Wen Xuxu swallowed again.

“I want to take care of Yinyin. Please… let me.”

“Take care of him?” He laughed—a short, bitter sound. “By what right? My son doesn’t need a mother who shamelessly throws herself at men. If you’re so eager, go ahead—keep chasing your lover, keep giving birth to more bastards!”

Wen Xuxu froze.

She hadn’t expected that.

Her blood ran cold.

*What the hell did he mean?*

Did he follow her? Was he watching her?

Panic flared into fury. She glared at him, voice trembling with rage:
“Huo Sijue, you sent someone to follow me?”

“Follow you?” He sneered. “You’re far too important for that, Wen Xuxu. Let me make one thing clear—nothing escapes my eyes here.”

He stared at her, each word carved out like a blade. The venom in his tone was unmistakable.

Wen Xuxu choked.

It was true. In this place, he was king. No secret stayed hidden.
But what kind of words were those? *Lover?* That was just a friend!

Enough was enough.

“Yes, I went out last night—with a friend,” she shot back. “But watch your language, Huo Sijue. He’s not a lover. He’s a friend. Don’t go making things up.”

His smirk turned razor-sharp.
“Wrong? Wen Xuxu, have you ever seen a respectable woman wandering off with a man at midnight? Only loose women do that.”

*Fuck.*

Wen Xuxu snapped.

“That’s right—I’m a slut. Then what are *you*? When I was pregnant, you strutted back with that *bitch* on your arm! What were you two, huh? A pair of filthy dogs! The lowest, most despicable couple on earth!”

“!!”

The words hit like a slap.

For a split second, she saw his face twist—not with anger, but with something worse: betrayal, pain, fury.

Then his hand shot out.

CRACK.

His palm struck her cheek with brutal force.

Wen Xuxu froze. Her body locked up. She stood there, stunned, unable to move.

Thank God, Xiao Lin—the assistant—just happened to walk by. One look at the scene, and he lunged forward, shouting:

“President! What are you doing?! Stop!”

He barreled in, grabbing Huo Sijue’s arm just in time to stop the blow from landing.

This woman really was playing with fire.

Xiao Lin held firm, voice urgent.
“Sir, please calm down. She didn’t mean it. She’s just… impulsive. She didn’t mean to offend.”

Then he turned to Wen Xuxu, shaking his head.

“Miss Wen, I’ll say it straight—you messed up this time. Can’t you just apologize? Do you know how long the President waited for you last night?”

Wen Xuxu blinked, her face paling again.

She hadn’t meant to explode.
When she followed him upstairs, she’d come with a sincere apology—ready to explain why she hadn’t shown up.
But all he’d done was hurl insults, one after another, each more cutting than the last.

She’d lost control.

After a long silence, she finally spoke, voice quiet but steady.

“I *was* going to apologize. It was my fault. My friend needed help last night—something came up suddenly. I left with him, and only when I got back did I remember… but it was already too late.”
